Ten Fingers

Everyone’s got that story. You know the one. The one you tell parties when you want to draw a crowd. The one you tell to the girl to make her pretty eyes go wide. The one that makes everyone scream, “NO WAY!” Yeah, that story. We want to hear it. And we’ll give you a present for doing so.

Ten Fingers is a FREE storytelling event akin to The Moth (themoth.org). Anyone can get up and tell their story to an adoring crowd of storytellers and storylovers. Break our hearts. Turn our stomachs. Make us laugh. Tell us a story about poop. Seriously, whatever. There’s only one rule: keep it under ten minutes.

Snap Judgment (snapjudgmentradio.org) will provide a CA$H PRIZE to the narrator of the best story—the audience will judge. $200 could be yours! First place takes $200, 2nd takes $20 and 3rd takes $2...

FOR STORYTELLERS:

Anyone can go up to the stage and talk, but if you’re planning on telling your story, please email me at [stephfoo@gmail.com] beforehand with the approximate length of your story so I can get a good sense of our time constraints.

All stories told at the event will be recorded, and the best ones have the potential to be used on Snap Judgment (a radio show very similar to This American Life which will be broadcast nationally on NPR stations within the coming months.) If you are itching to get on the show, keep in mind that our stories generally follow the traditional 3-act structure: Set us up, give us a dramatic conflict and then lead us into the resolution.
